Ever wonder what The Thing of John Carpenter’s The Thing fame was thinking? Well, I have, and so has Peter Watts, a biologist and scifi writer.

As I was IMing a friend discussing the motivations, methods, and general thought processes that drive the monster, he sent me a link to the EXCELLENT fictional short story by Peter Watts titled “The Things”.
